The Mona Foundation

Project Description

What started out as a quick job to move the Mona Foundation website to a new server became a 5 year relationship as their principal designer and project photographer.

Over the course of 5 years I designed annual reports and newsletters, marketing materials, worked on website implementation, and visited educational project sites in Haiti and Mongolia as a photographer.

Print Design Projects

My main role with the Mona Foundation was as a print designer for their various publications.  These included quarterly newsletters as well as a sizable (30 page) Annual Report which was sent to thousands of donors and supporters.

In the final year of my time with the Mona Foundation, I implemented a complete redesign of their print layout.  This was in coordination with their 15th anniversary and served as a high point as I completed my 5 years serving as their designer.

Visiting Haiti

In 2009 I visited the Mona Foundation project sites in Haiti.  These grass-roots initiatives provided vital education to hundreds of children throughout the area in and around Port Au Prince.  It was an amazing experience, to say the least.

On this trip I served as a photographer, capturing images for Mona to share with their donors and sponsors.  My wife also joined me on this trip as a filmmaker for Mona’s extensive documentary project.

Visiting Mongolia

At the end of my time with the Mona Foundation, I had the opportunity to visit one of their project sites in Mongolia.  This project was providing vital teacher training for educators, increasing the level of instruction available for this part of the world.

While I was only in Mongolia for a short time, I enjoyed capturing images of these amazing children at a kindergarden in Ulaanbatar, the capital of Mongolia.  It was an amazing way to cap off my 5 year journey with the Mona Foundation.
